xCottage Style Storybook Lantern Porch Lights – Two Pairs available

$475.00

Tudor and Gothic designs became very popular in the 1920’s. Elements of both can be seen in this whimsically designed porch light. At that time it was made of  aluminum with glass cylinders. A  less labor intensive version began to be made in the 1940’s and 50’s.
The cage on this later version is molded in one piece. The original floating round cylinder was changed to a soft, pebbled plastic which can withstand temperature changes better than a hard plastic,  making the fixture exceptionally durable.
We have  one pair, made of an aluminum/zinc combination metal. It has never been used outdoors.
Condition: Very good, paint loss is negligible now but if used outdoors, it will continue, eventually achieving an interesting gray/black patina as in last picture.  Aluminum doesn’t rust but we have found it will not hold paint in cold weather so be aware.
Measurements are 9 1/2″ (24 cm)  high x 5 1/2″ (14 cm) wide x 7 1/2″ (19 cm) deep.
