Egyptian Revival Lady Lamp
$400.00
This could also be called a figural lamp, the majority of them featuring a nymph like female from the art nouveau period which precedes this lamp. Here we have a working woman, presumably a water bearer, modestly robed, from the 1930’s. The only concession to the period is the beautiful art deco shade which she carries in addition to her wicker basket.
This is a cast spelter fixture with a bronze finish, not painted, made for the mass market. We can’t guarantee that the shade is original to the fixture but it certainly seems appropriate. The shade has a small chip in the holder which can’t be seen and otherwise we see no damage to the figure or the shade. The color is embedded in the glass. There are some white spots on one of our pictures from the flash, just that, bronze finish has no problems.
