Markel Iron Flush Mount Fixtures

$400.00

In 1922 Howard Carter found the tomb of King Tutankhamen  which began a renewal of interest in all things Egyptian.    This fixture seems to have been inspired by both art deco and Egyptian design motifs.  Markel Electric Products of Buffalo, N.Y. added these flush mounts to their 8100 Line in 1930.
They were painted in many colors, including pastels, but always as shown here. We have restored these fixtures as a labor of love as we consider the design to be evocative of a time long gone. The ziggurat, an Egyptian architectural form, is used over and over again in various ways.
In restoring these fixtures, we restored the old finish without destroying it. We didn’t “improve” on the design by adding our own ideas of how it could look better with our colors accenting difference features of the design. These are restored originals, no rust, sockets original (very important for these fixtures).
This Markel flush mount is the original green with the original grand hanging finial.
