Twenties Era Reverse Painted Desert Oasis Pendant

$250.00

The discovery, at the start of the Roaring Twenties, of King Tutankhamun’s tomb contributed its part to a general love for all things Egyptian.  An Italian, Rudolph Valentino, made millions  playing a mysterious, romantic desert Sheik   The Sheik of Araby was a popular song.
Low cost hand painted fixtures like this allowed anyone to take part in the new fad. Very much like shades found on old Moe Bridges table lamps, the shade is painted on the outside but also on the inside which when lit lends  the fixture a nice “desert” glow.  Having not been fashionable for years, this fixture was stored in a closet, leaving the pull chain socket and shade in great condition, no paint loss, no chips or cracks.  We’ve set it up to act like new for your old house, or wherever, it lends a nice, comfortable feeling to its surroundings.
