Most of the vaseline glass shades like this which were so common around the turn of the 19th century haven’t survived. The ones that have deserve to hang from a special fixture like this.
What a lovely way to hang a shade. From the design, we believe this is a Lightolier shade holder, a very unique holder with a ring attachment from which hang 4 crystal pendants for a little genteel pizzazz. It’s all very elegant, gold and cream with a touch of a subdued, creamy pink, nothing to overwhelm the beautiful vaseline glass spear. We aren’t able to properly show the sparkling crystal drops so please use your imagination there.
The shade and fixture are in excellent vintage condition.
Note: Vaseline glass is also called uranium glass as it gets its yellow color from a minute quantity of uranium. It glows green under black light but who wants to use black light? It is somewhat opalescent under regular light.
