Beautiful pair of cast iron outdoor sconces by J. C. Virden. The paint has been restored to protect against rust for the next few years. The sconces will last forever but will eventually need some maintenance as there is no paint that will last forever outdoors. We have rewired the original heavy duty ceramic sockets.
The shades are thick milk glass with raised lines in an art deco design for the period, both from the J. C. Virden 1938 catalog. The black paint is baked on. The shades are perfect, one still having its original Montgomery Ward’s price tag sticker, a little over a dollar. Gone to Texas.
